Broken Camera, Thanksgiving Deals, Good Friend, Start of Journey

How does anyone end up with a good camera on hand.. 80 % of the time in my opinion in this country it starts with the Marketing Deals.. the biggest of such events is the Thanksgiving Deals !!! I am sure you will agree you have splurged during the Thanksgiving sale days - without even knowing that you probably are paying either the same amount as any other day or buying something which the store wanted to move out of the shelf for a newer version of that product.

Let me come back to myself and my post here.. How did I end with the whole photography craze.. Looking back few years from now .. We went out on a family vacation - I had a decent Point and shoot camera from Sony and was very happy with it. Accidentally it dropped and I had a broken camera and there was no solution to fix it.. You don't repair much in USA anyway.. !!!

The timing of the broken camera was so right as it was meant to happen.. Here it was the Thanksgiving sale .. I was at a Best Buy store late in the night looking for a decent replacement and not wanting to spend a lot of money as I might break it again.. Enters my Good Friend and the great suggestion - why don't you look at this DSLR camera - its entry level not too much of a jump and here you have a package deal.. A DSLR camera, Tripod, Memory card etc., I had no inclination until then.. but now I turn around and everywhere I see a DSLR camera in the shopping carts.. and oh yes - now there are only a few more left on the aisle.. One of the other traps we fall into is "OK.. I will buy this, try it out and it does not work out.. I can always return it.." Never Happens..
